Custom Fur Ink of Marmots

Like many long-term wildlife research projects, the team avoids human names to reduce bias when observing and analyzing animal behavior. Instead, every marmot gets a unique, non-toxic fur mark — think of it as a trip to the hair salon, but for marmots.

That's why you'll see IDs like egg, jamba_juice or chevy. These aren't actual names — they're fur-mark identifiers that let researchers track individual marmots across the whole study.
